Übersetzerin Taek-seon (BAE Doo-na) ist über dreißig und wenig an Romantik interessiert – bis sie sich von ihrer Mutter und Schwester zu einem Blinddate mit dem zerstreuten Arzt NAM Su-pil (SON Suk-ku) überreden lässt. Das Treffen verläuft nicht glatt und endet abrupt wegen eines Labor-Notfalls bei Su-pil. Bei einem zufälligen Wiedersehen am selben Abend wirkt er jedoch plötzlich wie besessen von Taek-seon und macht ihr sogar einen Heiratsantrag. Bald bemerkt auch Taek-seon Veränderungen in sich – und erfährt, dass sie sich bei Su-pil mit einem tödlichen Virus infiziert hat, der unkontrollierbare Liebesgefühle auslöst. Ihre einzige Hoffnung ist Dr. LEE Kyun (KIM Yoon-seok), der fieberhaft an einem Heilmittel arbeitet.
Virus von KANG Yi-wan wurde bereits 2019 abgedreht. Die Veröffentlichung wurde jedoch ironischerweise durch die reale Pandemie verzögert. In Korea startete der Film schließlich im Mai diesen Jahres.

Translator Taek-seon (BAE Doo-na) is in her thirties and has little interest in romance – until her mother and sister persuade her to go on a blind date with the chaotic doctor NAM Su-pil (SON Suk-ku). The meeting shows no spark and ends abruptly due to an emergency in Su-pil’s lab. When they run into each other again that same evening, Su-pil suddenly seems obsessed with her and even proposes marriage. Soon, Taek-seon notices unsettling changes in herself – and learns she has contracted a deadly virus from Su-pil that triggers uncontrollable feelings of love. Her only hope lies with Dr. LEE Kyun (KIM Yoon-seok), who is working on finding a cure.
KANG Yi-wan’s Virus was completed in 2019, but ironically its release was delayed by the real-life pandemic. It finally hit Korean theaters in May this year.
