Neun Menschen, alle verschiedenen Alters und alle mit verschiedenen Jobs sind die Protagonist*innen dieser Dokumentation über das Leben und Arbeiten im Spätkapitalismus. Sie recyclen Plastik, bauen Schaufensterpuppen, reparieren Radios, kümmern sich um ihre Kinder, arbeiten auf einem Salzfeld, in einer Bierfabrik, in einem Büro, in einem Imbiss. Auch die Freizeit der Arbeitenden wird gezeigt. Sie konsumieren zumeist verschiedene Medieninhalte und meiden persönliche Kontakte. Mit Blick auf die Zukunft werden in diesem Dokumentarfilm auch die zunehmenden Sorgen bezüglich Künstlicher Intelligenz, fallender Geburtenraten und der globalen Erwärmung thematisiert.

Der Titel Works and Days bezieht sich auf das Lehrgedicht Werke und Tage des griechischen Dichters und Bauern Hesiod. Der Film ist ein Gemeinschaftsprojekt und ist PARK Min-soos erster Dokumentarfilm. AHN Kearn-hyung dreht bereits seit 2008 experimentelle Dokumentarfilme.

Nine people, all of different ages and all with different jobs, are the protagonists of this documentary about life and work within late capitalism. They recycle plastic, build mannequins, repair radios, take care of their children, work in a salt field, in a beer factory, in an office, in a snack bar. The workers‘ leisure time is also shown, during which they mostly consume various media content and avoid personal contacts. Looking to the future, this documentary also addresses increasing concerns about artificial intelligence, falling birth rates and global warming.

The title Works and Days refers to the epic didactic poem of the same name by the Greek poet and farmer Hesiod. The film is a collaboration and PARK Min-soo’s first documentary, while AHN Kearn-hyung has been making experimental documentaries since 2008.
